In the heart of rural Northumberland, this luxurious pub hotel is the perfect place for a winter escape.
With just five exceptional ensuite bedrooms, you can cosy up in luxury with lots of little touches to make your stay extra special.
Each of the spacious cottage-style bedrooms is individually designed, complete with vast super king-sized bed, flat screen TV and sweet treats on arrival. Nothing is too much trouble here, from morning newspapers to fresh flowers and prosecco, or dog beds for your four-legged friend and special treats for them too, everything can be arranged to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
The friendly bar is a great place to relax after a day’s exploring. The menu offers traditional, homemade dishes using locally-sourced ingredients, and includes everything from the delicious Percy Platter (spiced pork crackling straws, breaded whitebait, battered brie, king prawn cocktail, selection of breads, hummus, mixed olives, oils, butter and dips) to pan-fried seabass with braised fennel and dill, lemon and garlic butter, and the wild mushroom and sweet potato wellington, seasonal greens, garlic and parsley crusted new potatoes, with mustard cream sauce.
There are seven good golf courses within easy reach of Chatton, and many fine walks to be enjoyed in and around the village itself, with elevated viewpoints over the surrounding countryside. Chillingham Castle and the famous Wild Cattle of Chillingham (the last in the world) are just two miles to the south, while at the coast you will find the history-steeped island of Lindisfarne, with its own priory and castle. Then there are the spectacular castles of Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh and miles and miles of unspoilt beaches at Goswick, Bamburgh, Embleton and Low Newton-by-the-Sea.
