ILDERTON DOD BARNS
In brief: Converted farm cottages hidden away in the Cheviot Hills.

Insider guide: Situated in the middle of an 1,800-acre working hill farm, there are two properties to choose from here: the Barn itself which, as the name suggests, is a converted barn sleeping up to eight; and Cuckoo Cottage, adjoined to the barn and formerly used as stables and kennels, which sleeps two. Both properties have log burners, central heating, double glazing, washing machines, drying areas, a TV (plus DVD player in the Barn) and large, powerful showers, while outside there is a partially divided garden with barbecues and an outdoor fire pit. There is a lockable bike shed for those who want to explore the area on two wheels – we recommend following the Sandstone Way cycle route – as well as many footpaths with the Cheviot and Hedgehope Hills within walking distance.
