September 2021
Reading time 10 Minutes

From brand new pizza parlours to a new sun-trap terrace café and a delicious Japanese ramen bar, here are five new foodies you need to know about

Whether it’s Yorkshire or the North East, we’ve got the newest places to be visiting.
House of Fu

The Best of Broth

Leeds’ latest ramen bar recently opened its doors to hungry customers looking for delicious Japanese-style food. After starting out as a pop-up food vendor, House of Fu went on to win British Streetfood’s Best of the Best award, and has been looking for the perfect venue to settle into ever since. Taking influences from Tokyo and LA, this ramen bar has a range of tasty broths including spicy chicken over Sapporo noodles, chashu, yuzu, roast tomato and spring onions, finished with an egg and nori. House of Fu also offer vibrant rice bowls alongside gyoza and kimchi.

Tea on the Terrace

Enjoy the last of the summer weather at Burds Café which has recently opened in the Gatehouse on Burdon Terrace in Jesmond. Offering up cakes and coffee, alongside a range of brunch dishes, this sun-trap terrace café is the perfect place to head to this month. Check out their best-selling whipped goats’ cheese and pickled beetroot salad which is topped with orange slices, sourdough croutons, toasted almonds and pea shoots. Oh, and they’re dog-friendly too!

A New Brew

Known for their signature coffee made using their own roasted beans, 200 Degrees has recently opened their third Yorkshire-based coffee shop, on Low Petergate, York. Working with a number of speciality coffee importers who give these gurus access to beans from around the world, 200 Degrees serve up smoothly blended coffee within a relaxing coffee shop atmosphere. Pick up your own bag of coffee beans whilst you're there so you can enjoy a cup of the black stuff at home – our favourite is the Brazilian Love Affair.
