This brand new space in the centre of Bamburgh village is a great spot, serving breakfast and lunch in a bright and airy new building, or outside on the terrace overlooking the garden. Family and dog friendly, it’s where you’ll find delicious artisan coffee, home baking, freshly made sandwiches and daily specials all made with the highest quality ingredients from local suppliers. There’s a good kids menu too, and the special Armstrong Afternoon Tea includes a selection of fresh sandwiches, sausage rolls or quiche, homemade scones with jam and clotted cream, home-baked cakes and lemon posset.

This dog-friendly coastal café, just a few yards from Cresswell Pond, is a great place to refuel with coffee and cake after a long walk on nearby Cresswell beach, or after a spot of bird watching. For something more substantial try one of their soups, toasties or pies and browse the second-hand books and paintings for sale.

This relaxed café in the beautiful surroundings of Bradley Gardens makes its home in the 19th century glasshouse. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am with last orders at 4.30pm, on colder days the fires are roaring making the glasshouse a cosy place to while away some time – or on warmer days you can sit outside and enjoy the gardens with views across the valley. All the dishes are freshly prepared to order on the premises, including soups, sandwiches, more substantial meals and a selection of homemade cakes and desserts.

This hugely-popular tearoom dates back 100 years and is far more than just a corrugated tin shed selling cake. Open Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 3pm, they serve cyclists and walkers (and all manner of passers-by) from across the North East.
