Thrill seekers head to…New Zealand

What To Do
Whatever else you do in this spectacular country, make plenty of time for Queenstown, which is a Mecca for thrill-seekers. Whether you want to bungee from the epic 134-metre-high Nevis or take the plunge with a Canyon Swing out into the majestic Shotover Canyon (the world’s highest cliff jump), dive out of planes, jump into a jetboat or have a go at paragliding or kayaking, you’ll be within arm’s reach of it all here. But don’t think Queenstown is where the adventure ends – New Zealand’s South Island is also where you’ll find those snow-capped mountain ranges you’ve only ever seen in Lord Of The Rings, which are perfect for a spot of hiking, rock climbing and, during New Zealand’s winter (over our summer months), skiing and snowboarding too.

Where To Stay
Luxury and adventure collide at the secluded lakeside Alpine retreat of Blanket Bay. Featured on the Discovery Channel’s Seven Wonder Resorts of the World, Blanket Bay is nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s majestic Southern Alps, on the northern end of Lake Wakatipu and only a 40-minute drive from Queenstown. The main accommodation comprises three luxury suites and five intimate rooms, plus two chalets which offer an additional four suites, and every room at Blanket Bay has lake and mountain views. Plus the facilities include an intimate den, game room, spa, gym, jacuzzi, steam rooms, therapy suite and a heated outdoor lap pool.

Luxury lovers head to…The Maldives

What To Do
Sink into pure relaxation with a Thai massage overlooking the blue sea, explore the six kilometres of private coastline (which includes 12 pristine beaches) or dive deep into the coral reefs to discover more than 2,000 species of fish. With the leisurely Maldivian pace of life, you and your partner will discover a new-found sense of tranquility. Barefoot sophistication and luxurious privacy make this a once-in-a-lifetime destination.

Where To Stay
The One&Only all-villa resort in Reethi Rah is a jewel, set among a string of coral atolls, blue lagoons and white sands, and offers unbeatable privacy for your honeymoon escape. Stay in one of 37 private villas with pools surrounded by the wonders of the Indian Ocean, which blur the lines between the inside and out. When it comes to food, you’ll find five restaurants and two bars, each with a unique offering, so whether it’s rustic Italian flavours or a taste of the Middle East you’re craving, you’ll find it here.

City slickers head to…Amsterdam

What To Do
Take an overnight cruise to get here: DFDS Seaways’ ferries are kitted out with entertainment and leisure facilities including live music and an eclectic range of restaurants, so your honeymoon will begin as soon as you set foot on board. Once you have arrived, take a romantic boat trip down the grand canals, tick off your cultural box at the Museum Quarter, and head to Begijnhof, a charming hidden courtyard, for a bit of peace and quiet.

Where To Stay
The Dutch love to do things differently, and we’d highly recommend staying at one of their quirkier hotels, Hotel Not Hotel, which (as its name suggests) isn’t your bog-standard bolthole. Set in the red-brick arches of a former market arcade, it looks much more like an art gallery than a hotel – you can sleep in a blue tram carriage or a secret bookcase.
