After years of grey marbles being at the forefront of kitchen design, throughout spring/summer 2023 here at Gemini Worktops we’ve seen an increasing number of customers ditching the cooler tones and moving towards a warm, gold aesthetic. Transforming a Busy Family Home with a Calm Japandi Design

This summer at Gemini Worktops we’ve had the pleasure of working with Lucy Carter, an online content creator, to bring her dream kitchen vision to life. The past two years have seen Lucy and her husband Jordan renovate their dream family home which is documented across their home account (@thecartersrenovate).

From the start, Lucy had a clear vision of designing a space that is both modern and timeless, embracing a Japandi, organic and natural ambiance. After ordering a range of samples it was the Gemini Quartz, Calacatta Grand Imperial that Lucy fell in love with. This colour is new to our range and boasts an off-white hue with captivating veins of gold, radiating a beautiful charm that flawlessly matches the natural elements that Lucy included in the rest of the kitchen design.

‘Discovering a surface that perfectly aligned with our design proved to be quite a challenge,’ says Lucy. ‘But the moment I received the sample from Gemini, I knew it was the one.’

With expert worktop designers on hand to bring your vision to life, Gemini Worktops offers a variety of ways to incorporate quartz into your space, and Lucy was enthusiastic about exploring these design features.

Staying true to her modern and cohesive design vision, Lucy decided to extend the use of Calacatta Grand Imperial quartz beyond her kitchen worktops to create grand focal points throughout the large, open plan space. This included a beautiful waterfall edge to her already impressive 3.2 metre island, cladding the full length of the back wall, which created a completely stunning, seamless and symmetrical look (wall cladding is also far easier to maintain than a tiled splashback).

Not only did we fit matching Gemini Quartz worktops and windowsills in the utility room, along with a hidden quartz pantry shelf, an AXIX sink complete with quartz cladding was also included in the design. Flawlessly blending the Calacatta Grand Imperial quartz with a gold base, this purposeful choice enhances the visual appeal and achieves a sense of balance and elegance within the kitchen. In perfect harmony with the sink and the gold veining in the worktops, Lucy also chose a beautiful, gold 1810 matching tap that stands proud at the centre of the island.
