We've picked the best places to dine across East Yorkshire

Whether you're after something casual, going for brunch or wanting somewhere special to celebrate - here are our top picks.

The Fox & Coney
52 Market Place, South Cave
HU15 2AT
01430 471050
thefoxandconeyinn.co.uk

This modern take on a country pub offers the best of both worlds – roaring log fires for colder days and an outdoor patio for summer dining. The freshly prepared pub classics range from fillet of beef wellington to the always popular fish and chips served with mushy peas, tartar sauce and a Hull pattie  – all celebrating the flavours of Yorkshire – and their brunch menu is worth a browse too.

The Hispanist
Unit 11, Paragon Arcade, 52 Carr Lane, Hull HU1 3RF
01482 328805 thehispanist.co.uk

The modern cooking here showcases the very best of British and Spanish ingredients. It’s a casual yet stylish dining destination where you’ll want to fill your table with small plates and return time and time again to try the imaginative dishes – think coffee brined lamb rump with black garlic ketchup. We’ve got our eye on the chocolate and olive oil tart with sea salt and rosemary ice cream.

dining outside at The Peppered Pig The Peppered Pig

Nibble
The Dock, Queen Street, Hull
HU1 1UU
01482 321506

Meet your friends at this trendy dock-side eatery for brunch or late lunch. As well as daily specials (take a look at the blackboards), regular dishes include burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches and a super selection of buddha bowls. Their choice of sweet treats which fill the counter are pretty amazing too.

The Peppered Pig
Snaith Road, Turnbridge, East Cowick DN14 9BY
01405 839888
thepepperedpig.co.uk

The Peppered Pig is a welcoming and relaxing place. The menu includes pigs in blankets as well as flat iron steak, pigeon breast and their country ploughmans which is not to be missed. But there are plenty of vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options to choose from too. Their pretty outdoor seating area is the perfect place to chill out with a coffee and a cake, or a pint if you prefer.

The Pipe and Glass
West End, South Dalton, Beverley HU17 7PN
01430 810246
pipeandglass.co.uk

With an international reputation, The Pipe and Glass is so much more than your average former coaching inn – it took less than four years for this warm and welcoming pub to be awarded a Michelin Star. James and Kate Mackenzie have been at the helm here since 2006, and they have plenty more awards under their belt too. Whether you’re just popping in for a sandwich or you’re here for the full-blown, Michelin-star experience you’re always promised brilliant service and there’s dedicated vegetarian, vegan and ‘little peoples’ menus, so no one’s left out. Roast breast of guinea fowl with a crispy leg meat parcel, sprouting broccoli, wild garlic persillade and mushrooms à la grecque, and fillet of wild halibut with Yorkshire asparagus, black garlic, seaweed buttered Jersey Royals, seaweed cracker and lobster sauce should give you an idea of what to expect.
