Who knew we’d be returning to Hawkins so soon after the finale of the hit Netflix series.? Set in the winter of 1985, this animation from the Duffer Brothers sees the original characters face new monsters and a paranormal mystery.
– What to Read –
We Loved
DARK PLACES
Gillian Flynn
This author is the queen of the troubled female protagonist and while I don’t feel Dark Places is as strong as Gone Girl or Sharp Objects, it’s still a riveting read. Libby Day is the sole survivor of a family annihilation committed, supposedly, by her brother. In fact, he was locked up on her word. Decades later and a cynical Libby agrees to investigate her own past for a fee, but isn’t prepared for what she might find. Gillian is perceptive when it comes to family dynamics and her books are always stand-out reads in the crime genre.

THE NIGHTINGALE
Kristin Hannah
I think historical fiction is best when it brings new light to stories we think we know about our collective past, and The Nightingale does exactly that. Set in World War Two France, the book focuses on the story of two very different sisters whose fraught relationship is tested against the backdrop of a France threatened by Nazis. It’s a story about friendship, family and love that highlights the many ways female bravery shows up in unimaginable circumstances. A gripping, emotional and empowering story.

Worlds away, Jack does everything he can to find his way back to her, uncovering a mystery that will put his life at risk. Bruce Martin is a Leeds author who began writing seriously in 2012. Realm Walker is the second in his Dream Walker series.

Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder has released a new book packed with side-splitting stories ahead of his tour this autumn. We’re sure it’s packed with hilarious and unbelievable stories.
