We Tried a Full Biomarker Body Analysis - Here's What We Thought
We tested the new RanChip Insight 360 from Randox Health
RanChip Insight 360 is a comprehensive health intelligence programme that measures more than 250 data points and 150 health risks from a single blood draw. Claiming a new era in health intelligence, this advanced biomarker analysis is designed to detect hidden health issues and risks, allowing users to take preventative action years earlier than might otherwise be the case. As most chronic conditions develop silently, RanChip Insight 360’s advanced biomarker analysis aims to detect hidden risks and track trends, helping users take preventative action at the earliest opportunity.
The focus is clearly on preventative care, and at £495 it might not be considered cheap by some, but what price health?
The first and only platform to combine more than 250 tests, advanced AI and longitudinal tracking into a single health intelligence platform, checks include cardiometabolic, nutritional, blood disorders, hormone profiles, organ function, immune and inflammation markers, cancer risk indicators and digestive problems. And as a ‘woman of a certain age’, with no obvious major health issues but time-poor and struggling with tiredness and weight gain despite a healthy diet and regular exercise, I probably speak for a whole host of women in the same boat who are keen to learn a little more about their general health as they navigate new life stages.
The process is fast and efficient. The Randox phlebotomist puts you on the clever digital scales which measure not just your weight but your body composition, analysing fat, bone and muscle mass in upper torso, chest, waist and legs, your muscle mass balance in your arms and legs, and your overall body fat distribution, including visceral fat. Pretty damn clever for a minute or so on a machine.
After taking my blood pressure, she draws several vials of blood for analysis. And that’s it. All done and dusted within half an hour, with results promised by email in 48 hours.
What comes back is a fully comprehensive but easy-to-understand lowdown on my general health. Results are presented as colour-coded ranges and helpfully they clearly flag on the first page (of 81) the key findings to pay attention to. There is a clear explanation accompanying each and every result, available to download as a PDF.
A follow-up GP consultation to walk you through your results is available, with the 30-minute appointment charged at an additional £85. Again, it would depend on your results as to how necessary or desirable you feel this is.
The test is designed to be annual, with longitudinal tracking built in, each test compared on a dashboard so you can see at a glance any changes that have happened year-on-year. So is it worth it? Yes, we think so if you are someone who wants a comprehensive MOT-style picture of your overall health not readily available any where else, already invests in their health but is unsure of their general overall wellness, and believes that prevention is better than cure.
