Set within Newcastle's creative quarter, Ouseburn, The Biscuit Factory has become one of the North East's most distinctive cultural destinations

More than a gallery, it's a space to pause, reflect and gather. Visitors can spend time with original art, enjoy good food and leave feeling inspired.

Open daily, the independent gallery presents a diverse selection of contemporary work from hundreds of artists and makers. From original paintings and sculpture to prints, ceramics, textiles, jewellery and design-led homewares, the breadth of work on display makes it as welcoming to first-time buyers as it is to established collectors.

To support you at every stage, The Biscuit Factory offers a range of services designed to make choosing art for your home a truly personal and considered experience. With the Own Art scheme, you can spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months, while the gallery’s home approval option lets you see selected pieces in your own space before deciding. For a more tailored experience, private viewing appointments provide the opportunity to explore specific works with a member of the gallery team.

Beyond the gallery walls you’ll find an independent bookshop from Forum Books which invites quiet browsing, while the rooftop café offers seasonal, all-day dining paired with panoramic views of the Ouseburn valley. A lively programme of events, from artist-led workshops to book launches and relaxed exhibition previews, reinforce the gallery’s aim to be a place for connection.

This spring sees the gallery enter a thoughtful new phase, with a refreshed visual identity and a curatorial approach centred on slower, more meaningful engagement with art. Neutral backdrops and refined displays create room for each piece to breathe, encouraging visitors to take their time and engage more deeply with the stories and makers behind the work.

Coming up for early summer is a new headline exhibition: Still/Life by Jo Sharpe. Experience a series of still life works which draw on the language of folk art, celebrating honest forms and a lasting connection to place. Alongside this, singer, writer and artist Kathryn Williams presents Striking Image, her first exhibition in the region. The show features a series of intricate portrait miniatures painted onto matchboxes, echoing the miniature portraits of the1500s.

Still/Life and Striking Image will launch on 8th May 2026 as part of The Late Shows.
