Restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars across the city are offering deals starting from just £5, and we've picked out our favourite places to book.

Ate O’Clock
In the heart of the city, down an arched alleyway draped in fairy lights, Ate O’Clock is a unique restaurant offering everything from steaks and burgers to pan-roasted cod and wild mushroom linguini. During Restaurant Week, diners can enjoy steak, salad, fries and a drink for £20 in the evening, or any sandwich and a drink for £10 during the day.

The Fat Badger
The Fat Badger is a traditional pub in the heart of the city serving real ales and delicious food – plus their gin list is as long as your arm. During Restaurant Week, diners can enjoy two courses for £15. We recommend ordering the porchetta arancini or the Welsh rarebit to start, followed by the salmon and cod fishcake. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, the fruits of the forest crumble with bourbon ice cream sounds delicious.

Giant doughnuts at a discount is something we simply can’t say no to. This neighbourhood restaurant and late-night bar serves contemporary European-inspired cuisine cooked over fire. Using locally-sourced and foraged ingredients throughout the dishes, expect the Restaurant Week menu (where the deal is two plates for £15 or three for £20) to include the likes of smoked burrata, steamed cod loin, flame grilled prawns and salt-aged beef burgers. Their cocktails are also not to be missed and their Restaurant Week deal includes two cocktails for £15.

The Star Inn The City
This award-winning brasserie-style restaurant on the banks of the River Ouse aims to offer a taste of the countryside in the heart of the city. Diners can experience delicious flavours and locally-sourced ingredients, with two courses for £20. Our order would be the slow-cooked Yorkshire reared beef bon bons, followed by the fishmongers 'pye’ served with mash and peas – if you’re more of a dessert person, try the steamed Brew York ale cake with black treacle ice cream.
