Sculptural lighting takes centre stage

With inspiration as varied as our industrial heritage and the delicate ruffles of vintage bonnets, lighting is a real art form this season.

Delicate yet full of personality, this lamp’s ruffled glass shade is reminiscent of old fashioned bonnets and ballroom skirts. Ethel lamp, £294 David Hunt Lighting, stockists regionwide davidhuntlighting.co.uk

Wellesley five-globe floor lamp, £700 Libra Interiors at Fenwick, Newcastle fenwick.co.uk

Drift four-light LED bar, £400 Portrack Lighting Centre, Stockton portracklightingcentre.co.uk

Inspired by the glass insulators strung above the tracks
of Britain’s railways during the golden age of travel, this
lamp is part of Washington-based Novocastrian’s Insulator collection and celebrates early 20th-century engineering. The ribbed forms were both beautiful and functional, aiding the insulators in preventing the overhead wiring discharging, whilst giving a distinctly art-deco aesthetic. Insulator table lamp, £3,305 novocastrian.co

Retro stained glass wall sconce, £116.95 lassonliving.com

Taking inspiration from the flowing, swirling shapes of the ocean, the Wake wall light adds drama to your walls – especially in this rich walnut finish. £295 tomraffield.com

This abstract burl stem, divided in five staggered sections, rests on a round base. Franco floor lamp, £2,495 sohohome.com
