GREENHOUSE
FROM 4TH MARCH

SIMON PALMER: OBSERVATION OF LANDSCAPE
FROM 4TH MARCH
YSP Centre, West Bretton
01924 832631
ysp.org.uk

One of Britain’s leading watercolour artists, Simon Palmer draws inspiration from and celebrates the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales (particularly around Wensleydale, where he has lived and worked for the last 40 years). On his walks, he fills sketchbooks with pen and ink drawings which are the starting point for his paintings. This exhibition in the YSP Centre presents a collection of his more recent limited edition giclée prints. Having exhibited worldwide, his work having featured in many public collections, this is a great chance to see his artwork up close.

DAISIE JACOBS
UNTIL 6TH MARCH
The Hepworth Wakefield
01924 247360
hepworthwakefield.org

The Hepworth Wakefield’s 2022 Print Fair Prize winner, Daisie Jacobs (an artist and educator living and working in Leeds), is taking over their Café exhibition space to display her work. Through the mediums of moving image and photography, she works with themes of the physical human form and has a personal interest in sustainability. She is currently exploring alternative photographic processes and researching waste reduction in analogue photography using fungi. The works you’ll see on display are cyanotypes – one of the oldest photographic printing processes where cyan blue is created by controlled exposure to ultraviolet and blue light spectrums.

LIFE, LIGHT AND SPIRIT: MARGARET WEAVILL
17TH–29TH MARCH
The Station, Richmond
01748 828259
thestation.co.uk

Margaret Weavill is an artist who works from a small village just outside Durham City. She finds inspiration in the changing face of nature in all seasons and all weathers and uses her work to reflect its vibrancy, working largely in Brusho paint powder and acrylics on canvas, but also in watercolour and wax. Head to The Station in March to see some of her work on display.

FROM SKY TO SEA: ARTISTS AND WATER

FROM SKY TO SEA: ARTISTS AND WATER
UNTIL 12TH MARCH
Millennium Gallery, Sheffield
sheffieldmuseums.org.uk

Water is our most precious resource; Sheffield’s rivers and streams provided the power that forged the City of Steel. From Sky to Sea combines paintings and photography to explore artists’ fascination with water and our relationship with it. You’ll follow the water cycle from rain and snow, along rivers and to the sea. Co-curated by Paul Swales, this exhibition features work from historic and contemporary artists, including Paul Cézanne, Fay Godwin, David Hockney, Eric Ravilious and JMW Turner, and you’ll also see Titian’s striking largescale woodcut The Submersion of Pharaoh’s Army in the Red Sea, 1549 (on display in Sheffield for the first time since the 1980s).

COMEDY
BRIDGET CHRISTIE: WHO AM I? BRIDGET CHRISTIE: WHO AM I?

From old favourites to new kids on the block, these comedians will bring you plenty of joy this month

HAL CUTTENDEN
4TH MARCH

The Forum, Northallerton
01609 776230
forumnorthallerton.org.uk

Hal is back to living the single life. But it’s going to be fine; he’s made a show all about it. He’s lost enough weight to almost get his wedding ring off and he’s got his grown-up daughters, his dogs and his divorce lawyer looking out for him. It must be going well – the Sunday Times says it’s the ‘funniest he’s ever been’.

BRIDGET CHRISTIE: WHO AM I?
4TH MARCH

City Varieties Music Hall, Leeds
leedsheritagetheatres.com

Don’t miss this brand new show from the Rose d’Or and South Bank Sky Arts Award winner (and star of her own Netflix special). Now 51 years old, Bridget is confused, sweaty and getting annoyed at absolutely everything. If you thought she was hilarious on Taskmaster, you’re sure to love her stand-up.

ROSIE HOLT
16TH MARCH

The Leadmill, Sheffield
0114 272 7040
leadmill.co.uk

Social Media sensation and Chortle Award-winner Rosie Holt is debuting an hour of comedy based on her smash-hit satirical videos (Woman Who... released on her Twitter feed, which she first started to create during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown), which have millions of views online. She may have been on your radar for a while, but now’s the time to see her perform in person.

DARA O’BRIAIN
16TH MARCH

Oval Hall, Sheffield City Hall
sheffieldcityhall.co.uk

At the end of his last tour, Dara had performed the show Voice Of Reason 180 times and by March 2020, he was ready for a break – but he didn’t expect his break to be so long. Now, finally, he’s back on tour. His new show will hardly mention the lockdowns (thankfully) but will instead fire out the usual mix of stories and one-liners to make you laugh out loud.

SIMON BODKIN: SCREWED UP SIMON BODKIN: SCREWED UP

TOM ALLEN: COMPLETELY
19TH MARCH

Royal Hall, Harrogate
01423 502116
harrogatetheatre.co.uk

Tom’s finally moved out of his parents’ house and he’s eager to share his life updates. But you’ll want to act fast getting your hands on tickets to see him – his last tour sold more than 50,000 tickets (including his sell-out show at The London Palladium).

SIMON BODKIN: SCREWED UP
23RD MARCH

The Alhambra Theatre, Bradford
01274 432000
bradford-theatres.co.uk

Following a sold-out, critically-acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe and becoming the most viewed British comedian of all time on TikTok, Simon Brodkin is back with an outrageous new stand-up show. You might know him from his Lee Nelson days or that time he invaded The X Factor stage, but if you’ve watched him on TikTok you’ll know why these tickets are selling fast.

ALFIE MOORE: FAIR COP UNLEASHED
24TH MARCH

The Forum, Northallerton
01609 776230
forumnorthallerton.org.uk

BBC Radio Four’s cop-turned-comedian Alfie is back with a new stand-up show. Fair Cop Unleashed is based on a dramatic real-life incident – the night a mysterious clown came to town and more than one life ended up in the balance. It was no laughing matter, but somehow Alfie will make it one in this hilarious show.

MIKE WOZNIAK: ZUSA MIKE WOZNIAK: ZUSA

MIKE WOZNIAK: ZUSA
23RD MARCH
