Chocolate Fayre
It’s the week we’ve all been waiting for: loosen the belt buckles, and get ready to enjoy the sweet life, because National Chocolate Week is here. There’s lots of fine chocolatiers here, but we know time is precious – so here’s our pick of the best

North East

The Chocolate Gallery
There’s a huge selection of hand-crafted, beautifully presented chocolates at this charming outpost in Morpeth – whether it’s good old milk chocolate or something a little bit different like a Pina Colada truffle, you won’t be disappointed.

The Good Tempered Chocolate Co
If you manage to catch these guys at Tynemouth Market or Jesmond Food Market, you’re in luck. Founder Zoe tempers all their chocolates by hand using fine Belgian couverture (chocolate made with extra cocoa butter to give a high-gloss), and dreams up delicious combinations – think caramelised walnuts and candied oranges in silky 70% cocoa chocolate.
