Huts in the Hills

You’ll love: Huts In The Hills, Alnwick

Made from reclaimed oak with sheep wool insulation, these huts are finished to the highest standard. The largest, Cheviot, sleeps two adults with a bunkbed (and climbing wall) for two children. Hedgehope, which is for two, boasts a large veranda and an outdoor antique bath, and Dunmore, the most traditional hut, is a cosy retreat for couples. Relax by the wood-burning stove as local ingredients can be ordered for delivery to your hut.

This gorgeous 14th century thatched pub, with Andrew Pern at the helm, holds a Michelin star with dishes crafted from local, seasonal ingredients, such as milk-fed squab pigeon poached in celeriac juice. Its very own thirteen-bedroomed hotel, Cross House Lodge, is just across the road and each room has its own quirky features – ask for room one for a bath at the end of your bed, or room five for your very own snooker table.
