From icons of the local food scene, to new ventures set up by entrepreneurial foodies, we’ve picked out 11 fabulous artisan food producers you need to know about.
Block & Bottle Block & Bottle

L. Robson and Son
Craster kippers are a true North East icon of the food world. Generations of Robsons have smoked kippers in the same smokehouses, and they have earned an enviable reputation as some of the finest kippers in Britain – they’re certainly worth a try, along with the smoked haddock.

Block & Bottle
A high-street butchers offering locally-sourced, free-range and grass-fed meat and hand-crafted charcuterie – their Soppressata chilli, fennel and garlic salami, as well as their spicy spreadable Ndjua salami are both award winning. They also offer craft beers and natural wines, as well as a draught beer addition where you can fill up your own reusable growler (glass bottle) to enjoy at home.

Yorkshire Woodland Pork
Produced by husband and wife team Ed and Lexi Staveley, Yorkshire Woodland Pork pigs are part of the management of their woodland, keeping undergrowth down. They use a variety of rare breeds including Tamworth, Berkshire, Mangalitsa and Iron Age which are perfectly suited to woodland living and the slower pace of life, and make delicious free-range pork. Order a selection of pork as well as Masham lamb online, and if you’re unsure what to choose, their taster boxes are the perfect option.

Charlie & Ivy’s
Known for their award-winning bread dippers, dressings, mayos and gifts, Charlie & Ivy’s is a Yorkshire producer we all know and love. Whether you’re looking for the perfect bread dipper for a summer grazing board, or the tastiest marinade to impress dinner party guests, Charlie & Ivy’s have you covered. For food-lovers, the team at this Yorkshire-based producer offer stunning gift boxes where you can pick your own trio of dippers or dressings, as well as hampers filled with a range of goodies and a recipe booklet.

Lindisfarne Oysters
Lindisfarne Oysters’ beds were originally established by the monks in the priory here way back in the 14th century. They’re available for sale all year round – eat them on the half-shell or cook them up. Either way, you’re unlikely to find anything fresher.

The Yorkshire Pasta Company
Sourcing their flour from their local mill and ensuring each batch is made with wheat flour, water and no eggs (meaning all their pasta is vegan), as well as taking two days to make, The Yorkshire Pasta Company take pride in their award-winning produce. From fusilli to penne, conchiglie and tortiglioni pick up a bag from stockists across Yorkshire or order direct from their website.

Gilchester Organics
A grain producer and miller, located on the site of a Roman fort just north of Hadrian’s Wall, which grinds its own heritage wheat grains into flour that produces brilliant bread. They supply restaurants and bakeries across the country. From rye flour and spelt to strong wholewheat and double-milled semolina, there are plenty of flours to buy.

God’s Own Rum
Crafting single pot still spirits in Yorkshire since 2018, God’s Own Rum produces four distinctly different premium rum spirits, including Yorkshire Gold, Spiced, Winter and Blush. All of the premium spirits are distilled using traditional methods in their copper alembic pot still and each is distinctive in flavour, aroma and experience. After distillation and oaking, a combination of carefully selected botanical spices or seasonal fruits and berry blends are used to create an elegant and smooth premium rum. The dark and smoky Yorkshire Spiced Rum has the perfect flavour combination of natural spice and subtle sweet complexity, while the Yorkshire Blush has an aroma of rich berry and current fruits.

Holme Farmed Venison 
Award-winning wild and farmed venison is what you’ll find with Holme Farmed Venison. Based in North Yorkshire, Nigel Sampson and his team pride themselves on providing the best, naturally-reared venison in the UK. Known as one of the healthiest red meats available, venison can be purchased in rack, loin, cutlets and fillets – you can even order a venison wellington with mushroom duxelle and game jus all properly prepared and delivered to your home.

The Little Red Berry Co.
The Little Red Berry Co are a family-owned business based in Ripon who handcraft a range of vegan spirits with both traditional and unusual flavours. That includes their award-winning gins, vodka and their best seller – blackberry whisky liqueur (which was last year’s Deliciously Yorkshire Awards runner up for best Yorkshire Spirit out of thousands of entries). Their whole range is made onsite in small batches and they use locally-sourced, hand-picked fruits from their nearby farmers and foragers. Their products are stocked Yorkshirewide.
