This multi-award winning restaurant is something of a Harrogate institution. Born from a passion for great food served in a unique environment, this restaurant in the town’s Old Empire theatre is renowned for its high-quality dishes, chic cocktails created by professional mixologists and regular live events. Head Chef Dilu and his team of chefs roast, toast and grind more than 200 spices to use in their award-winning curries, on the charcoal-smoked barbecue grill, and in their speciality seafood dishes.

The bar stocks a range of top quality, all-Spanish sherries, wines, spirits and cocktails, the beers are all brewed in Spain, and all the drinks are served with an authentic Spanish twist wherever possible. The speciality here is rotisserie chicken marinated in a blend of Andalus-inspired spices, but there’s plenty of tempting tapas too.

Pizza West

On Whitby’s West Cliff, this bright and stylish pizzeria has great sea views, but it’s the fabulous food that keeps customers coming back for more. The wood-fired sourdough pizzas are all prepped in the open kitchen but it’s not just your traditional toppings here; we love the merguez sausage, chorizo, feta, red pepper and hot honey, and the courgette, confit garlic, crème fraîche and lemon. There’s plenty of choice of pizza and pastas, but start with a selection of small plates which include wood-fired sardines served with salsa verde, or homemade Tuscan meatballs.

This intimate, neighbourhood French bistro’s menu is full of seasonally-led, classically driven dishes. Awarded The Good Food Guide’s Best Local Restaurant 2024, just a few months after opening, it’s the kind of relaxed place we all wish we had round the corner. Confident cooking in the kitchen from co-owner, Yorkshire-born Sandy Jarvis, sees dishes so French they would go down well in his partner and front-of house Clément’s own home town. Starters include twice-baked crab soufflé with bisque sauce and fennel salad and a steak tartare (of course) with bone marrow butter and sourdough, whilst it’s hard to look past the 8oz bavette for a main.

Combined with the more delicate and seasonally-led Japanese dishes, this is a truly modern, Asian fusion experience in contemporary surroundings.
