The Angel at Hetton
In brief: A former coaching inn with a Michelin star and no less than five AA Rosettes.
Insider guide: Though only six miles from the market town of Skipton, The Angel at Hetton feels worlds away, surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills. Despite looking from the outside like a classic country inn, inside it’s all about simple, scaled-back decor, and the rooms are as tranquil as can be. The only establishment in Yorkshire to hold five AA Rosettes, the food here (from chef Michael Wignall) is undoubtedly the star of the show.

From a simple yet chic dining space to its three rooms, Mysé exemplifies the ‘less is more’ ethos. Run by experienced duo Joshua and Victoria Overington, the exceptional food here secured the restaurant a Michelin star within just seven months of opening in 2023.

Inside the building, picture natural light, wooden beams and a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is just as fuss-free and draws heavily on local produce, leading with ‘wastage’, a dish created using waste from the other courses.
