Escape to the charming spa town of Harrogate for a fantastic weekend away

From great food and plenty of shopping to glorious green spaces – here’s where to shop, eat and stay.
The Ivy

Eat

New to Harrogate, the Pickled Sprout’s menu is packed with hearty favourites and creative dishes made using the best locally-sourced ingredients, and don’t even get us started on the cocktails. Some other great places for traditional British fare and fabulous drinks are The Ivy and William & Victoria, who offer a selection of Yorkshire gins. If you’re looking for a more relaxed vibe, head to Major Tom’s Social for craft beer and handmade pizza, while brunch aficionados will be in heaven at The Wild Plum.

Rudding Park

Sleep

One of our favourite places to stay is Rudding Park just outside of Harrogate, set within 300 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland, complete with two golf courses, an award-winning spa and two restaurants. If you’re looking for something a little more central The West Park Hotel enjoys views over The Stray. For something a little different, The Chapel is a Grade II-listed Italianate chapel conversion which has been beautifully restored to create a boutique bed and breakfast in the heart of Harrogate town.

Browse

Be sure to set aside a good chunk of time to devote to wandering through Harrogate’s historic streets to make the most of the shopping on offer. Wander the cobbled streets of the Montpellier Quarter, where you’ll find a myriad of independent jewellery, gift, fashion and antique shops. Best Kept Secret offers a stylish selection of on trend ladies clothing at amazing prices, while gents should head to Rhodes Wood to get suited and booted.

Spirit of Harrogate
Turkish Baths Harrogate

Don’t Miss

For the ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation in the most elegant of surroundings, head to the Turkish Baths Harrogate. The UK’s most fully-restored Victorian Turkish baths, you won’t want to leave. If you do manage to pull yourself away, the Valley Gardens are another great place to unwind. For gin-lovers the Spirit of Harrogate’s gin experience is a must. Their expert team of mixologists will guide you through the history and evolution of gin and help you identify your preferred style, before making your very own personalised bottle in the Master Distiller sessions.
