Looking for seriously good small plates and authentic tapas dishes?

Here are our favourite tapas restaurants across the North East and Yorkshire.
La Fiesta

El Pincho
16 Riverwalk, Durham DH1 4SJ
0191 374 1298
elpinchodurham.co.uk
Serving traditional tapas, Greek appetisers and Moroccan specialities, El Pincho invite diners into their vibrant restaurant situated on The Riverwalk in Durham city. We recommend the grazing platters to share amongst friends, or for those feeling hungry, the minted lamb kebab wraps are delicious.

La Feria
Wellington House, Cold Bath Road, Harrogate HG2 0NA
01423 538181
laferiarestaurants.co.uk
Bringing the buzz of contemporary Spain to the heart of Harrogate, La Feria’s house speciality is free-range rotisserie chicken infused with the flavours of Spain. Alongside a selection of authentic tapas created with the finest ingredients, specials are chosen daily by the head chef, and their sharing boards showcase the best cheeses and charcuterie Spain has to offer.

La Fiesta
45 Doncaster Road, Armthorpe, Doncaster DN3 2BU
01302 830212
lafiestadoncaster.co.uk
Much-loved and officially voted one of the best ‘hidden gem’ restaurants, La Fiesta is a fun and relaxed spot serving seriously good tapas at unbeatable prices – you just start with three tapas, then keep ordering more until you’ve had your fill. You’ll also find sharing platters, set menus and paella here.

Number 29 Tapas Bar
29 Frenchgate, Richmond DL10 4HZ
number-29-alehouse-gin-bar.business.site
For an evening of sharing dishes, great ales and gins head to Number 29 Tapas Bar in the heart of Richmond. From tiger prawns coated in garlic and chilli butter to piquanté peppers, there are plenty of delicious options on the menu.

Sobremesa

Sobremesa
207a Chillingham Road, Newcastle NE6 5LJ
facebook.com/Sobremesa.ncl
This small authentic Spanish-inspired bar on Chillingham Road offers a wide range of wine, tapas and pintxos (similar to tapas and served on small slices of bread). We love their charcuterie and cheese sharing boards enjoyed alongside a glass of Spanish wine.

The Hispanist
Unit 11, Paragon Arcade, 52 Carr Lane, Hull HU1 3RF
01482 328805
thehispanist.co.uk
The modern cooking here showcases the very best of British and Spanish ingredients. It’s a casual yet stylish dining destination where you’ll want to fill your table with small plates and return time and time again to try the imaginative dishes – think coffee brined lamb rump with black garlic ketchup. We’ve got our eye on the chocolate and olive oil tart with sea salt and rosemary ice cream.

The Old Yard Tapas Bar
98 Bondgate, Darlington DL3 7JY
01325 467385
tapasbar.co.uk
Serving up delicious sharing plates since 1995, this long-standing tapas bar creates small plates inspired by Greek and Spanish cuisine. The menu is extensive and (understandably) if you can’t decide, there’s always the 15-plate set sharing menu for parties of more than six to enjoy.

Six Pier Point
6a, Pier Point, Marine Walk, Roker SR6 0PP
0191 567 9374
This restaurant and wine bar overlooking the North Sea has an enviable location. Using the finest local and British ingredients, you’ll find tapas and seafood small plates on the menu, but it’s the sharing platters are our favourites – think charcuterie, cheese, seafood, artisan and veggie boards which can be savoured alongside a glass of wine.
