Calendar Girls

Get the girls in your calendar

The stage is set for Grassington Players’ performance of ‘Calendar Girls The Musical’ to return to its Yorkshire Dales roots this weekend. This Saturday’s opening gala performance has been a sell out, with all ticket sale profits going to Blood Cancer UK. But if you’ve missed out on a ticket for the opening night, there are still plenty of dates to catch the iconic performance here.

Autumn home

Add some autumn ambience

The new season brings new beginnings and possibilities – so why not change things up in your home? Add a pop of orange to give your home some cosy, autumn ambience, or try something completely different with these bold home picks

See a spooky show

Get ready for spooky season with this chilling new performance of Dracula: The Untold Story. Playing out in the Courtyard Theatre at Leeds Playhouse from this weekend until 9th October, this adaptation promises a contemporary take on the classic Gothic vampire tale that you thought you knew so well. You can grab your ticket here.

Celtic & Co Knitwear

Future-proof your wardrobe

As the weather starts to cool and we look forward to refreshing autumnal strolls, get ahead of the game and invest in the perfect puffer or cool coat to wrap up warm in. Seasonal knits are always a wardrobe staple at this time of year too, and you’ll find all the woolly knits worth knowing about here.

Baking inspiration

The return of The Great British Bake Off always inspires us to grab our apron and get busy in the kitchen – and nothing says autumn like a spot of baking! For a bake with a difference, this cherry and rosemary focaccia is sure to tantalise your tastebuds (and spread some delicious smells throughout your home too!). Or try out this indulgent salted caramel pretzel slice recipe – perfect for a sweet and salty treat.

Tynemouth Food Fest

Feast in festival fun

This weekend is booming with festivals – and there’s something for everyone. For bubbles and booze, Newcastle Prosecco Festival is boasting the UK’s largest selection of fizz across the weekend, as well as an award-winning fizzy cocktail menu and gin flavours to sip away at. A new and exciting street food festival is also taking place in South Shields Market this Friday and Saturday – Feast at South Shields Market – where the traditional market square will be transformed into a mini festival setting with a grassy seating area, bar, street food vendors and a small stage. There's even more for keen foodies over at Tynemouth Food Festival, with epic street food and live entertainment giving you plenty to sink your teeth into.  The Festival of Thrift also makes its return to Redcar this weekend, serving up sustainable fashion shows and so much thrift to sift through (and it’s free admission too!). If you’ve felt inspired by last week’s Met Gala, the Simply Ladies Inc’s Yorkshire Fashion Week event is taking place in Leeds this Saturday, with the Met Gala theme promising an extravaganza of fashion and empowering designers – and a huge luxury prize for best dressed.
