June 2023
Reading time 3 Minutes

Go square-eyed with us…

From a musical take on a Roald Dahl classic to some deadly dramas and the return of one of our favourite comedies, here's what you'll want to watch this week.

-Monday 19th June-

Litvinenko, 9pm, ITV

New Series

In November 2006, DI Brent Hyatt and DS Jim Dawson are summoned to University College Hospital in London to interview Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian spy who claims to have been poisoned. He believes the man responsible for ordering his murder is Vladimir Putin. Although this fact-based drama starring David Tennant has been streaming on ITVX, it is now showing on ITV (all week).

-Tuesday 20th June-

Dr Death, 10pm, Channel 4

New Series

When patients entering Dr Christopher Duntsch’s operating room start leaving permanently maimed or end up dead, two fellow surgeons set out to stop him. Based on a hit podcast and inspired by the terrifying true story, this 2021 series (previously only available in the UK via Starzplay) stars Alec Baldwin.

-Wednesday 21st June-

Secret Invasion, Disney+

New Series

This new series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+ on Wednesday sees Nick Fury learn of a (you guessed it) secret invasion of Earth by shapeshifting Skrulls. With a team of allies, he must race against time to save humanity.

-Thursday 22nd June-

And Just Like That, Sky and NOW

Season Two

Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda return in the second season of the Sex and the City revival with plenty of fun and whole load of fashion. Most excitingly, Kim Cattrall is reprising her role as Samantha Jones (even if it is for just one scene).

-Friday 23rd June-

Not Going Out, 9pm, BBC One

Season 13

By far one of our favourite comedies is back and we couldn’t be happier. In this first episode, when Lee and Lucy are asked to cover for Anna on more than one occasion for secret Italian lessons, they suspect she is having an affair. Lee decides it is up to him to tell Toby but he needs to find the evidence.

-Saturday 24th June-

I’m a Virgo, Prime Video

New Series

Coming to Prime Video on Friday, this Amazon Original series is a coming-of-age story about Cootie, a 13ft tall man in Oakland. Having grown up hidden away, he forms friendships, finds love, navigates awkward situations, and encounters his idol, a real life superhero.

-Sunday 25th June-

Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, Netflix

From Stage to Screen

With an all-star cast including Emma Thompson and Stephen Graham, you have to see this musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic book. An extraordinary girl with a sharp mind and a vivid imagination takes a stand to change her story – the perfect family film for a Sunday afternoon.

-Catch Up On-

Significant Other, ITVX

New Series

After both hitting rock bottom, the lives of two lonely neighbours are changed forever after an ill-fated first encounter in this brand new comedy-drama for ITVX. All six episodes are available to stream now.
