This small independent restaurant in the heart of Brighouse is run by Lauren and Greg, who met working in the restaurant industry and have since combined their experiences and their travels to offer a modern British dining experience in their relaxed restaurant, Brook’s. Seasonality is the name of the game here with regularly-changing dishes accompanied by a good selection of natural wines, fine ciders and their classic cocktails.
For scrumptious fish and chips look no further than Bizzie Lizzies. With three generations now working hard to ensure they remain Skipton’s favourite by constantly tweaking their recipes and adding to their menu, it’s no wonder this family-run business is award winning. For a delicious summer supper, try their classic fish and chips, or order one of their gluten- or dairy-free dishes, or sample their vegan and pescatarian menu.
Best of British
Celebrating exceptional British produce and seasonal ingredients, Samsons is a new, relaxed all-day restaurant in the heart of Harrogate. Find small plates such as shredded Thirkleby duck crumpet, wild garlic and samphire tart and grilled mussels on toast, or order large plates such as Cornish hake or roast lamb rump – the desserts have caught our eye too, especially the cherry blossom parfait.
BEER WITH DEER
On selected dates throughout summer, on the Swinton Estate, enjoy local Masham beer and fabulous wood-fired pizza or sample from the barbecue and pig roast menus at the beautiful Deer House overlooking Swinton Park. This unique al fresco drinking and dining experience is perfect for summer days soaking up the atmosphere – especially when accompanied by great live music.
Crafting British hard seltzer on the outskirts of Richmond, Yan Tan is a family-run business creating premium alcoholic sparkling water which is naturally flavoured with wonky fruit and botanicals. Yan Tan’s hard seltzer comes in two natural flavours, Elderflower Hawthorn and Damson Rhubarb, and they are vegan, gluten-free – and only 71 calories per bottle.
Looking for your perfect summer drink? Look no further than Slingsby Rhubarb Gin, which was recently named Britain’s favourite rhubarb gin. Based in Harrogate, Slingsby create their award-winning spirit with their London Dry Gin as a base, locally-sourced fruits and botanicals, and infusions of Yorkshire rhubarb from the famous Rhubarb Triangle. For the perfect summer tipple, serve over ice with a premium elderflower tonic, a sprig of mint and some fresh raspberries.
