Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further

From hysterical comedy shows to a spot of ghost hunting or simply enjoying a leisurely pint, we've picked the perfect activities to help you while away this weekend.
My Fair Lady at Sunderland Empire

Have a Loverly Time
This weekend is your last chance to see My Fair Lady at Sunderland Empire; the final showing is on Saturday 11th February. Following its critically-acclaimed West End run, the multi-award winning production boasts a star-studded cast including EastEnders’ Adam Woodyatt and tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, who is determined to transform her into his idea of a ‘proper lady’.

Be Happy
Happy Hour Live is the first (and maybe last depending on how it goes?) tour from the hugely popular Spotify podcast JaackMaate’s Happy Hour, presented by JaackMaate, Stevie White and Robbie Knox. As audience members, you’ll get the chance to confess your sins and get the answers to your burning questions. See the show at Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre & Opera House on 10th February.

Treat Your Valentine
Ahead of Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to treat your loved one – or yourself (self love is important too!). Whether it’s with a GLOSSYBOX Valentine’s Day Limited Edition Box, a unique date night or an evening in binge-watching a new series, or even snuggling down to a romantic film, there’s plenty of inspiration on the Staying In section of of our website, see here.

Get the Pints In
Join your friends at the Kings Hall & Winter Gardens in Ilkley for two days of beer, food and entertainment on 10th and 11th February when Ilkley Beer Festival returns for its 15th year. Enjoy live music, food courtesy of Lishman’s, and if beer isn’t your thing there’s a prosecco and gin bar too. Last year’s event raised more than £42,000 for local charities and good causes.

Whitby

Full Steam Ahead
Whitby Steampunk Weekend is back (11th–12th February), and as always the event will bring thousands of visitors to Whitby. This family-friendly event embraces all things steampunk with a number of activities, presentations and demonstrations at Whitby Pavilion as well as the Steampunk Retail Emporium. Go Ghost Busting
Ghost tours don’t have to be just for Halloween. Catch up with Cara and Charli in Morpeth’s Market Square from 7pm for a special Valentine’s ghost walk on 11th February. The tour lasts an hour (and is suitable for the whole family).

Have a Laugh
From his star-studded wedding day to lockdown stuck on a farm, Alan Carr has plenty of new stories to share since he was last on tour. Nowadays, he’s finding happiness and joy in the small things. Get your hands on the last remaining tickets to see his stand-up show at O2 City Hall, Newcastle on 11th February. Missed out on tickets? Head to BBC iPlayer to watch Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job to see him renovate a rundown Sicilian villa (it’s as chaotic as you would imagine). The following day, Britain’s Got Talent winner and Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer act Axel Blake will be on stage ‘in style’ at Leeds’ City Varieties Music Hall as part of his first-ever national tour, and the final few tickets are up for grabs.
