We try out a GLOSSYBOX subscription, starting the new year with their New Horizons beauty box

With the new year came new horizons as January's GLOSSYBOX edit arrived. Packed with hand-picked products, carefully chosen by the experts, here's what we made of it…

First up was the WunderKiss Essential Lip Scrub. The sugar and shea butter combination was an excellent exfoliator, expertly getting rid of dead skin and leaving my lips feeling hydrated and soft (plus the aftertaste was nice too!).

That week's self-care Sunday routine included the Paradox Detox Restorative Hair Mask, which came in a good-sized tube packing in plenty of product for thick hair. The vegan-friendly and natural mask had the lovely aroma of eucalyptus, which lingered long after use. My hair felt amazing and so smooth after letting the mask soak in for about half an hour (but you don’t have to use it for this amount of time). One of the best things about this magic mask is that you can use it on dry or wet hair, so you don’t have to go through the rigmarole of wetting your hair and then getting out of the shower to apply the product before waiting and washing it out.

I must admit, I was slightly apprehensive about Grace & Stella’s Exfoliating Dermaplaning Tool as I was worried it would leave stubble, but after seeking advice and trying the tool, I didn’t find this at all. It was easy and painless to use and it removed the peach fuzz from my cheeks. I was happy with the results and will continue to use this nifty tool.

The 111 Skin Cryo De-Puffing Eye Mask was very refreshing on my skin (especially the morning after a night of a few too many gins). It left my under-eyes glowing and noticeably reduced the tired bags under my eyes.

Now, I don’t have oily skin so I only tried the Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser once, but it was very cleansing and you can tell they have taken care to not strip your face of moisture.

Finally, although I refuse to believe at the tender age of 29 that I need anti-wrinkle serum, the sachet of L’Oreal Paris’s Revitalift with hyaluronic acid was a great bonus addition to the box – and they do say that prevention is better than cure. My one complaint would be that the serum left my face slightly sticky and firm, but maybe this is its anti-wrinkle effect.

I thoroughly enjoyed trying out this box and can honestly say I would buy some of the products again, especially the Detox hair mask!
