The spacious accommodation includes a master bedroom with king-size bed (there is also a single bedroom here), a bathroom with bath and walk-in shower and open plan lounge, kitchen and dining space. Beautifully furnished, The New Dairy is a relaxing haven so you can choose to hideaway here for the weekend or walk into the village for a quiet drink at one of the pubs, or dinner at one of the popular restaurants. Prefer to hunker down in front of the fire? Then head to R Carter & Son, Bamburgh’s acclaimed butcher with deli next door to pick up all your essentials. You may never want to leave.

Darwin Forest

You might want to just hide away in your award-winning holiday lodge at Darwin Forest, with its own private decking and hot tub all nestled within a 47-acre woodland paradise, but you would miss out on the fantastic on-site facilities here, including the Evolution Health and Fitness Centre which has a spa area and beauty rooms, and the Foresters bar and restaurant. This is the perfect retreat for couples who love the outdoors and can’t let a weekend go by without visiting the gym, yet still look forward to cosying up in their own space, and sinking into the bubbling hot tub under the star-sprinkled night sky.

Really want to relax? Guests can pre-order homemade ‘fakeaways’ before arrival or visit the on-site honesty shop, a little Yorkshire deli on the doorstep with all the best basics, so you don’t even need to rustle up something to eat in the kitchen if you just don’t feel like it.

Both lodges have their own wood-fired tub on a private deck and firepit to tempt you outdoors, but inside is just as cosy. If you don’t want to cook, there’s an onsite café a short stroll over the hill from the lodges serving locally roasted coffee, lunches, or why not head there for a late afternoon glass of wine accompanied by one of their famous meat and cheese platters?
