Students at Durham Sixth Form Centre have an excellent record of success, which they work hard to achieve

Amongst the fantastic accolades achieved are a 100 percent A Level pass rate. Over two thirds of grades achieved last year were A*-B and more than 90 percent of vocational entries are awarded the top grades of Distinction* or Distinction.

Staff believe they offer students excellent opportunities, with their award-winning Careers, Progression and Aspirations team being instrumental in supporting students on this journey. The vast majority of their students progress to university, attending over 50 different universities across the UK including those within the prestigious Russell Group. Durham Sixth Form Centre students are also successful in achieving places on highly sought-after school leaver programmes, competitive scholarships abroad and higher-level apprenticeships, as well as finding employment.

They are delighted to announce that they have, once again, been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard (QiCs), through Investors in Careers, following their reassessment for the award in October 2022. The Quality in Careers Standard is the national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) in secondary schools, colleges and work-based learning. It demonstrates Durham Sixth Form Centre’s commitment to providing first-class careers education.

‘We are committed to ensuring that we provide careers education, information, advice and guidance of the highest quality in order to support students to make informed choices for their futures,’ says headteacher Ellen Beveridge. ‘This award recognises the great work that our Careers, Progression and Aspiration colleagues and wider staff team do in order to support our students. We are delighted to receive such an accolade, which recognises both our work and our commitment to our students and their futures.’

To find out more, visit Durham Sixth Form Centre at their next open event held on Thursday 20th April from 4.30pm–7.30pm.
