Originally a pop-up stall on Newcastle’s Quayside Market, Proven Goods Co. have flourished into one of the best doughnut suppliers in the North East. Creating their hand-rolled, slow proven doughnuts the traditional way, meaning each one is made from scratch, filled and then glazed each morning, you’ll find their monthly changing flavours at Hoults Yard.

Doe Bakehouse

Step inside one of their three (two in York and one in Clitheroe) bright and colourful doughnut shops where you’ll find handcrafted, cream filled, chocolate topped and rainbow coloured doughnuts. Try the bitter lemony glaze with a sweet meringue and biscuit top – yum!

Deep North

Relatively new to Tynemouth Front Street, Deep North have made waves with their independent coffee and doughnut shop. Everything (including the dough, jams, fillings and glazes) is made from scratch each day, with high-quality seasonal ingredients. After a dip in the sea or a stroll along King Eddy’s Bay, there’s nothing sweeter than a freshly made doughnut and cup of coffee.

Just off High Level Bridge you’ll find this quirky doughnut shop serving fresh artisan doughnuts. Handmade doughnuts and single origin coffee – what more could you want? Working hard to develop distinctive favours alongside a yummy dough recipe, the team at Doh’hut now have a permanent outpost in Leeds.
